INTRODUCTION
Starting on August 1, Washington DC (District of Columbia) will require bedding and furniture manufacturers and importers to register in their district.

PRODUCT REQUIREMENTS
The products that will require factory registration are those that are designed for sleeping or reclining.
The list of products the new requirement includes are things like:
Mattresses
Bed pillows
Comforters/Quilts
Neck pillows
Reclining chairs
Sofas
The new requirement does NOT include things like:
Stuffed toys
Dining chairs
Non-reclining upholstered chairs
Ottoman/poufs

FEE
The fee for the new DC registration will be $476. The registration will be valid for 2 years.
There is NO TESTING required for the Washington DC registration.
WHAT TO DO NOW
We recommend our customers submit a new registration request for District of Columbia on our website immediately as the Washington DC office has recently started inspections.
